Not to long ago, Baba Mann Singh Pehova wale, did 1313 Akhand Pahts for the Chardi Kalaa of the Khalsa Panth. It seems like the effect of those Akhand Pahts has already begun to take shape as Mann Singh has recently been boycotted and barred from holding diwans on stages in Dubai where the Sangat rejected his presence and similarly now Mann Singh has been boycotted from the various stages in New York in the tri state area.

For a while now I’ve been looking to find ways to improve my torrent download speeds, after all the only thing better then being able to download anything, is to be able to download anything fast.
Firstly, if you have no clue what Torrents are, then understand them to be the latest fad in downloading and sharing files. I could go into more depth on it, but if you havn’t needed or used torrents yet, the chances of you needed using torrents is pretty slim.
Firstly let’s deal with the basics:
The Client
The client is the program used to actually download the files. Now I’ve used most of them out there and I can cleary say that BitComet is by far the best.
- Azereus slowed down my computer, making it a pain to download and work normally , but it does come loaded with features.
- BitTornado, didn’t deliver on the speed, and lacked the User Interface,
- BitLord an adware / spyware version of BitCommet.
So my advice is to get BitComet. It works, its fast, doesn’t have problems, what more could you ask for.
Change your DMZ settings
If you’re using a router, chances are your computer doesn’t have direct access to the internet. You can change that by enabling DMZ or port forwarding, that way your computer can get direct access to the internet (indeed making your computer more susceptible to being hacked, and getting a virus, but you may get faster downloads).
Choose your Torrent Files wisely.
Nearly all torrent sites list the number of seeds and peers. A good torrent file is one where the seeds:peer ratio is closest or greater then 1. So a file with a seed-peer ratio of 50:50 is better then one with a ratio of 50:1000.
Disable Windows firewall.
Yes it puts you at the mercy of hackers and virus’s, but it also helps improve download speeds.
To disable windows firewall:
Go to Control Panel.
Click Windows Firewall.
Click on off and go OK.
You could configure your settings and all that, and still have your firewall on, but that would require further explanation and I don’t want type all that up. Also chances are you got other firewalls that came installed with windows, that you may need to configure / turn off, which I’ll leave you to figure out on how to do on your own.
Now that we got the basics out of the way, there are a few other things you could try, such as patching your windows and changing the number of open ports and also capping your upload speeds. For more info on how to do those and some other tips check out this thread on torrentfreak.com.
As always, I can’t guarantee that doing all the above will fix things but if you are having problems, then you can try each step individually and one of these may just work for you.
For the longest time now, I’ve been interested in getting into photography as a hobby. I remember back in high school I even took some photography classes as my breeze through electives, and got to use SLR camera’s and then develop our own rolls. I never did quite get the hang of using the cameras, other then adjusting the shutter speed for the proper light exposure. Maybe this summer I’ll try my hand at it again by grabbing a used SLR camera of EBay, but until then check out these images by Singhs who seem to know what their doing:
Check out some of these sites for photos by some great Gursikh Photagraphers:
The biggest thing I have against Bhangra is the commercialization of it. Now, not everyone will agree that’s a bad thing, after all its promoting and bringing Desi’s into the general public and all that, which is neither here nor there, but what we can agree on is that its allowing everyone the ability to hijack Bhangra.
Honestly I may not be its biggest fan, and I honestly really don’t have anything against other people doing Bhangra, I just don’t like other people making it look so bad. It was bad enough as a kid growing up, seeing drunken uncles two step to Bhangra, but at least they had the excuse that they were drunk. What possible excuse can these people come up with to justify what their doing as being Bhangra??
Just when it looked like things were getting better for Sikhs in the West, this idiot goes out and does something stupid. Now I’m fully aware every religion/culture has its share of bad apples and black sheep, but none the less this is probably one of the most disgusting things people can do (hustle sex from minors). Now its bad enough that he’s doing what he’s doing, but what’s worse is the fact that he’s got a Sikhi Saroop (full dhara and full kes), identifying him as a Singh of Guru Gobind Singh to the world.
Now don’t get me wrong. I’m all for exposing and defaming these kunjars, and I’m fully aware that Inderjeet isn’t the only one, after all child molestation, whether we admit to it or not is a huge problem within our community. Exploitation of our mothers, sisters and daughters has been going on for a while now, and the problem has only been getting worse in recent years. Look at the news headlines in the recent months, many big time precharaks, kirtani’s, raagi’s have been exposed, while Sri Akaal Takht Sahib conveniently turns a blind eye, giving these perps the occasional slap on the wrist, even then only under Sangat’s watchful eye.
Long gone it seems are the days of Akali Phoola Singh, who gave even Maharaajaa Ranjit Singh lashes for associating with a muslim a bibi, but then again maybe its time we bring those days back, scare the perverseness right out of these perps.
The fact that Inderjeet got caught and exposed the way he did, on national prime time news, only confirms my belief that Guru Sahib is sending us a clear warning. Showing us that if we don’t start to deal with and handle these problems from within properly then they will continue to leak out and over into the mainstream, and the Khalsa, once known for being the savior of the daughters of others, will have failed at protecting its very own.
This blog for better or worse is an extension of my procrastination and boredom. It's not intended to convince, impress or convert you to be anything more then what you already are, but if it does then more power to it. Do be warned that the time you waste on this site, will be your own and I will not in any way shape or form be held responsible in compensating you for your losses.
