In light of the fact that Sikh film festivals are the new fad right now (theres the Spinning Wheel Film Festival, and also SikhNet’s Film Festival) I find it only appropriate to bring some original films here, and have a mini film festival here. I guess the target would be to feature a new short film every two weeks, but I’d be able to sustain that for very long, considering I don’t have a camcorder and am not about to go buy one (unless of course y’all want to pitch in).
On that note I present to you a video created by the Ottawa Gaffer AKA Sukhdeep Singh, for his final school project. The premise for this video is every students nightmare sleeping in for an exam. The film follows Jasdeep Singh (the late Student) as he wakes up late and overcomes all foreseeable obstacles that get in his way in his attempt to get to school to write his exam.
Sukhdeep Singh did an excellent job in highlighting not only Jasdeep Singhs moral dilemma but also his spiritual one. By starting the movie off it is more then apparent that Jasdeep has missed Amrit Vela, is a manmukh in many ways and Sukh shows this by giving Jasdeep Singh a patit saroop. However upon completion of Nitnem Jasdeep magically transforms back into his Khalsa roop. (naw, I’m just shitting you, the first actor quit on him).
Anyways without further ado the video of the moment:
Out of sheer laziness I refuse to write an indepth analysis instead here my key points:
Raps grab Bargnani at #1..Surprised? I already here the “we should have had Rudy Gay” echos in the background by a meaningless few. Lets face it, Bargnani was #1 since we got the pick. He was our #1 pick if we had the 8th pick. He was the guy the Raptors wanted.
Dissapointed with PJ Tucker. I don’t question Colengelo, but I fell victem to the Denham Brown hype, what can I say. Every team needs a home town hero.
Is it just me or are the rap’s setting up a weird team? Inside Men, who play outside, and outside guys who specialize on the inside.
Theres still months ahead of us. Hopefully this means we’ll be getting a new PG, and getting rid of Mike Who?..
Also for those Rudy Gay supporters, what spot did this “super all star” get drafted at? Come on now, He aint all that, get of his…
Anyways thats how I broke it down. As for the Knicks, what more can you say. They are in the Humpty Dumpty position, where no one can seem to put them back together, and on top of that you got Mr. Thomas leading them as a head coach. I really think its time for KNick fans to start a revolution, storm the bench, back offices and do what you must to sort things out.
And all thats folks. Oh yea check out the previous draft thread: http://www.shindasingh.com/blog/?p=215. Now to return to my vacation.

This is just a reminder, that the Sikhs Against Genocide Save Darfur program is TOMORROW. Bring you uncle, aunt, neice, nephew, tya, chachaa, mamaa, puphar, bapoo, mumee, masi, masar, pua and whoever else you can possibly think of.
Why? Becaues Sikhs are Against the Genocide in Darfur.
Does not showing make you a bad person? Yes.
Does it cost you anything? No.
Does it help Sikhi? It shows the world and helps educate other communities about who we are, what we do (sevaa), what we believe in (sarbat da bhalla), and more importantly, is the first miniscule step that the Sikh Sangat of Toronto, Ottawa, Ontario, wherever can take on the path of Truth travelled by all our Guru’s, even when it ment being made to sit on a burning plate with sand being poured over there bodies, or sitting in a thorned cage, while watching your beloved Sikhs, giving there lives but never there Sikhi, this my friends is your chance to show that these sacrafices taught us something, that this truth still exists in the Sikhs today, and that YOU be coming out, support the freedom of this truth.
So come one, come all, if you only go to the Gurdwara once a year make this the event you come out to. If you only go to the Gurdwara once a month, then make this day the day you come out. If you go to the Gurdwara everyday, like one should, then hope to see you there, and finaly if you have never been to a Gurdwara, let alone know what a Gurdwara is then show up anyways to:
As the TV was turned on at 9:10, and Jason Terry was being interviewed, the quote “Who do you believe in?” is still resonating in my mind. Not because it was one of Tupac’s songs or one of the amazing lines in Thug Luv, however it was because of the meaning that it brought for the Miami Heat. The Basketball Gods.
When the Heat were down by 13 with 6:37 left in game three of the NBA Finals, no one thought they would win. No One. However, there was no way that I was about to turn off the Tube with that much time still left in the game. Throughout the next 20 minutes of that Tuesday, so many miraculous things happened that suggested that God’s hand was at work for the Miami Heat.
With 2:12 to go in the third quarter Josh Howard scored his 20th and 21st points. The mavs were 25-0 when Howard scored 20+ points.
Down by 5, Shaq gets fouled on a Dunk attempt and has to go to the line with 1:37 left. Shooting 6-22 for the series prior, he cans both of them.
Gary Payton, who has been killed by JT and Harris hits the eventual most –crucial-jumper of his life to put the heat up by two
Dirk Nowitizki, a 94% free throw shooter misses one of his free throws with 3 seconds remaining
After the missed free throw, Jerry Stackhouse has the opportunity to grab the offensive rebound, only to see Dwyane Wade come from the rafters and snatch the ball from Jerry’s outstretched arms. .
Some may argue luck or coincidence, however as V said it best “I, like God, do not play with dice, and do not believe in coincidence”. There was something more to those sequences, there was a calling, a Jor-El moment with Clark, a moment of truth, a moment where the ball ends up in the hands of Robert Horry with clock winding down, or better described as: DESTINY
From that moment on, every Dallas fan and player were pleading lucky break of sequences, but not the Heat, their post game quotes were as follows:
“I’m a true believer,” Riley said
“We’re a team with faith in one another.” Gary Payton said,
“The basketball gods were good to us.” Pat Riley said
“We’re a very strong-willed team, we all believe in each other when we’re down and out, we always feel we can come back and individually believing in God and believing that He will give you the strength to do go out there and do it.” Dwyane Wade said.
When Dirk Nowitzki was asked the question by a reporter pertaining to Riley’s statement about the Basketball gods, Dirk’s answer is what sealed the deal for the Mavs,
“I don’t believe in that stuff”
Then “Who Do you believe in”?
With Shaq playing completely sub-par, Walker taking the second most shots on the team and everyone but Haslem getting killed on the Defensive end, how did the Heat win the NBA championship?
Besides the greatest MVP performance by Dwyane Wade, besides the Lock down Defense of Udonis “Uber Heart” Haslem, to the contrary to those speeches prepared by Pat Riley, Wade described it best when he was handed the MVP of the Finals:
“First I would like to thank God”
For this championship was pre-ordained by God himself. It was put to a halt last year because the Heat didn’t want it. Shaq was out of shape, Wade too young and oft injured, Damon Jones played no defense, Stan couldn’t get his guys going. The look on the heat player faces as the pistons celebrated on their home court is what brought us to these finals. The fire, the will, the attitude.
Wade signing a deal with Gatorade, getting phone calls from Michael Jordan, phone calls from the ‘chosen one.’
Shaq losing 30 pounds, squashing the beef with Kobe.
Walker, Posey, J-Will and Payton sitting way in the back of the bus.
Haslem playing with a bum shoulder and giving 150%
Zo…well What can I say to all the haters who did not want him to get a ring? 8 points, 6 boards, 5 blocks in 14 minutes…
It was the Gary Payton lefty scoop lay-up, the D-Wade 35 ppg, the 21-25 Ft’s, it was the 10-0, 13-2, 13-0 runs that they went on. It was the published reports of the Heat being the Unworthy opponent, the mapping of the Parade route in Dallas. It was the summation of precedent accounts that brought the victory to the Heat.
So this championship is dedicated to the following people:
People Who doubted the Heat
People who said Shaq was washed up
People who pushed Shaq out of LA
People who jumped ship after game 2 (Yeah you know Doctor G)
People who accused Riley of overthrowing Stan
People who hated on Zo, GP and Walker
People who thought the Heat would get swept.
People who thought Lebron was better than Wade
People who think that Shaq is not the greatest Centre to play the game
Last and not least. People who don’t believe in the Basketball Gods.
Now as I sign off with my best impersonation of a Scoop Jackson Article, let me make a few bold statements:
Shaq is the Greatest Centreever
Riley is the best Coachever
Wade will be the best player to play this game… In the words of Shaq “Wade is the best ever”
Zo is all Heart, stop hating now
Haslem is a Tru-Warrior
GP leaves with the hardware
It was Destiny, the Heat is God’s Team and it was my Team
MIAMI HEAT 2005-2006 NBA CHAMPS D-WADE MVP
“It was a close one, but another one for the good guys”
Having just read Simmon’s article on game 5, I’m left to wonder if Kobe Bryant will ever equal or become as good as either Leborn or Wade?
Many of you are probably shaking your head and like Cuban thinking, what a f’d up question, considering Kobe is older then the two, and accomplished more then either of the two combined. But if one was to do a projection graph for either of these 2 super stars, then its safe to say that the extrapolated data, would show these 2 far above Bryant and in a league closer to Jordan then anyone before them..
So being to lazy to go into this any further I’ll let you all decide…
This blog for better or worse is an extension of my procrastination and boredom. It's not intended to convince, impress or convert you to be anything more then what you already are, but if it does then more power to it. Do be warned that the time you waste on this site, will be your own and I will not in any way shape or form be held responsible in compensating you for your losses.
