Body found by Malton creek

Peel Region police are investigating after the body of a young man was found in Malton.Police received several calls from residents who saw a body lying by a creek behind a low-rise apartment building on Goreway Dr. around 6:20 p.m. Monday.The remains of an unidentified man in his early 20s were found about 300 metres south of Brandon Gate Dr. along a footpath by the creek.Police do not yet know what happened to the man but are treating it as a suspicious death, Peel police Const. Craig Platt said.A coroner was examining the body and the area around it and will perform a post-mortem Tuesday.”We’ll be checking any unusual events that have occurred,” Platt said. Police will also check to see if any missing person reports match the body’s description, he added.

Murder Arrest
A 17-year-old has been charged in the murder of 19-year-old Matthew Anthony, whose body was found on Monday afternoon in a creek at Malton Greenway Park. The Mississauga teen, who can’t be identified because of his age, had a court appearance on Thursday. A group of boys stumbled across the remains while out on their bikes and it took cops a few days to figure out if was a murder or not. It’s Peel Region’s second so far this year.
