Go Italy??..GO ITALLY!!

Well the World Cup wrapped up yesterday, to many peoples relief, and I could say I’m neither happy or disappointed. It was good while it lasted. Gave me something to talk about with people who I would have normally had nothing to talk about with. It also made for interesting radio, with the Fan 590’s Bobcat blasting soccer fans the world over for being the dumbest of human species on a daily basis.
Personally I made an effort to watch this year, and I was able to catch 2, 3 games, and to be honest they weren’t all that bad. Having had played soccer for the better part of the last school year, gave me a new appreciation for the sport, so being able to watch any random game that was on at a given time and not get bored like I was in the past was definitely a good thing.
Anyways the one thing about the World Cup espeically here in Toronto is that it gives a good number of people a reason to celebrate something. Now anyone who knows Toronto, knows that its got a huge Italian community, larger then all the desi’s communities, and on top of that the Italians are definitely a rowdy bunch.
Having heard so much about the rukas caused after an Italy win, a bunch of us decided to hit up Woodbridge and check out the celebrations. At first the plan was to just observe, but that quickly changed to actually take part, as we were able to put together a make shift Italian flag out of old dastaars and chuni’s. What followed was us driving down Highway 7, with some going as far as dressing up in tight Adidas tracks and acting like die hard Azuri fans.
The people (Italians), you could tell were shocked and surprised to say the least. Everyone was trying to cop a photo while many others just applauded and cheered and were happy to see us take part while others shook there heads in disgust as we blatantly hijacked what they felt was there time to shine. Anyways event went good and Gursheel’s camera really went to work.

mr harsimran sion, come down to ottawa on a friday for sports, u can stay at our place for the weekend. play soccer for 2 hrs and see how much skill the sport takes

im not debating on the athletic attributes of soccer,
they are probably the best athlets in the world, that is not my beef with them.
my beef is with the flopping. and every team flops!
they will fall and start crying to get a penalty and then when a strecther comes to get them, they start running and juping on the sidelines like ti was nothing.
man, be a man, play the damn game.
my other beef with the sport is that its too slow, not enough scoring. so many players are walking or standing still (strikers or defenders)
you can do so mayn things when watching a soccer game becuase all u gotta do is tune in when the annoucner voice begins to rise. that usually suggest that something ‘intereting’ is about to happen. but often its just another flop.
u can watch 2 or 3 plays on a review and be like. oh i missed the game but it wasnt all that. thas why soccer sucks.
u do not debate the skill required nor the game itself. my beef is with the players and with the fans who come once every four years and become pro’s on the game.

easy now boys….the world cup is what it is…’the beautiful game’ (yeh zidane did add a slice of ugly, but…)
i’m not a hardcore follower of any sport on TV, but do get ramped up for the world cup and olympics, and my gut always goes funny for england…(guess your land of birth, and the soil that you ate as a child) does create that connection!
would have liked france to have beaten italy, but was disgucted by zizo…

Props to Jasdev singhs mom for makin an italy flag out of chunis in 5 mins and turn out so good. I was suprised the Italians never found out about our home made flag.

Umm, I was just wondering when Jasdev Singh went home and changed his clothes/dastaar.
Or did he bring em with him and change in the car. Secondly, Why is Jarnail wearing a Sweden Jacket, whats wrong with him.
I give full props to Jasdev’s mom for Making that Flag, that ish was ILL.
Don’t think of this as a hater post just some questions. I would have loved to be there but as you know my ankle is as fat as me and our league games tend t obe a bit more important. But porps to all of you who were out showing the italians that even brown people know soccer.

Gino kids are HOMO’s. The fact that they are getting joy because of this world cup win pisses the hell outa me. You guys should be ashamed of urselves, supporting these guys. You guys prolly went to watch the gino’s in ther tight pants and done up eyebrows. (and im talkin about the guys)

Hey… I can’t consider Jasdev Singh a real Bollywood movie star. I did not see one scene of him in the mountains, not one scene of him beating up 700 villians while he has 30 bullets in his body…no…scratch that…heart, and not one scene of him jumping off a 30 story building and landing on his feet without wrecking the shape of his hairstyle…well..in this case…dastaar. And until I see video footage of him singing a song with the words “Deevana” “Paagal” and “Pyaar” in it I really can’t see him as a Bollywood movie star. hehe.

haha…I don’t know how I found this again but I never read those posts before, it’s pretty funny. Let me just say some things (although probably this “THINK LOUD” brother won’t even see these).
