The Million Dollar Man

Writing by shinda on Saturday, 7 of April , 2007

It seems that only two type of people win the lottery those who don’t need it, and those who are about to die. So goes the case for the latest lottery winner who I happen to have met and gotten to know in my stint at Ottawa, none other Balz’y’s own cousin, Inderpal. I guess Inderpal falls into the, “doesn’t really need it” category but then again a few extra mill never really hurt anyone, except for maybe all the people who have been killed all over the mighty dollar, but thats neither here nor there. Luckily enough Mr. Bal was gracious enough to spread his winnings with all his boys in Ottawa, which is pure reason to be vexed since I decided not to return the last year, seeing as how it would paid itself off. Whatever, time to find Ranjit and hustle him for whatever cut he got, after all vice president of CISA has to earn him something, if it doesn’t then Ranjit Sion its all in vain. But anyways, congratulations to Indy on his winnings and now that he’s looking to put a down payment on that house on the hill don’t forget those of us still living in the valley’s, after all a post about you being loaded should earn me a nice ride if anything else.

A False Alarm

Writing by shinda on Friday, 30 of June , 2006

In light of the fact that Sikh film festivals are the new fad right now (theres the Spinning Wheel Film Festival, and also SikhNet’s Film Festival) I find it only appropriate to bring some original films here, and have a mini film festival here. I guess the target would be to feature a new short film every two weeks, but I’d be able to sustain that for very long, considering I don’t have a camcorder and am not about to go buy one (unless of course y’all want to pitch in).

On that note I present to you a video created by the Ottawa Gaffer AKA Sukhdeep Singh, for his final school project. The premise for this video is every students nightmare sleeping in for an exam. The film follows Jasdeep Singh (the late Student) as he wakes up late and overcomes all foreseeable obstacles that get in his way in his attempt to get to school to write his exam.

Sukhdeep Singh did an excellent job in highlighting not only Jasdeep Singhs moral dilemma but also his spiritual one. By starting the movie off it is more then apparent that Jasdeep has missed Amrit Vela, is a manmukh in many ways and Sukh shows this by giving Jasdeep Singh a patit saroop. However upon completion of Nitnem Jasdeep magically transforms back into his Khalsa roop. (naw, I’m just shitting you, the first actor quit on him).

Anyways without further ado the video of the moment:

Protest follow-up

Writing by shinda on Sunday, 19 of March , 2006

So yesterday was the big anti war protest, that took place across various cities around the world. Ottawa wasn’t near as big as Toronto or other cities with an estimated turn out of 80-200 people. (Those are the numbers from the papers).

Anyways a few of us went out to check it out, and you can check out a few images we took here.

We took a lot more, but those didn’t come out due to some technical problems but alass what you going to do. Anyways heres a small clip.

At the end when everyone got together at Parliment, there were some other groups there raising awareness for their human rights causes, which reminded me of SS’s advice of using these protests to bring awareness to our own cause. Maybe next time print of 500 handouts about Prof. Davinderpal Singh and hand those out? May not get him free, but at least it’ll let him be known.

Writing by shinda on Thursday, 9 of February , 2006

A little while ago, I posted a matrmonial clip of Ranjit Bhai. However after reading some of the comments Ranji Bhai was upset, with all the confusion and the remarks about his so called “dhoti”. So he sent in this video, which speaks for itself.

Here’s a video made by the Capital Mob last summer. I thought it was pretty funny, although I cant see myself pulling stunts like that anytime soon.

Enjoy..

The End of a Dynasty

Writing by shinda on Saturday, 21 of January , 2006

(Tejdeep Singh, Harsehaj Singh, Gurraj Singh, Hardeep Singh, Harpreet Singh, Sukhdeep Singh, Shinda AKA Das)

Last Friday at sports, we saw one of the greatest soccer teams ever assembled retire on top. Satgur day Neelay officially disbanded finishing the season 5-2 against K.S.F.

There were times this season when it looked like K.S.F was going to make a run, but due to lack of team chemistry, unreliable players and overall lack of skill compared to S.D.N they quickly found themselves at the short end of the stick.

All this amalgamated led to the actions of Friday when the teams were disbanded and a new dynasty was formed, seeing the new competition being between Ottawa Vs. Toronto.

Although Ottawa won the first game in the series, this had much to do with the early injury of Tejdeep Singh, and the absence of Ranjit Sion from the Toronto line up. However after barley squeaking by winning 3 games to 2, and only a goal away from loosing the last, Ottawa got lucky this time, but WHAT will they do next time with a healthy Toronto squad? I guess only time will tell.
